How Voterist handles information
This Privacy Policy explains how Verse 2 Ventures, LLC, doing business as Voterist, collects, uses, discloses, and retains information when you use Voterist.
Information used for voter lookups
When you type an address, the text is sent through Voterist's server to Google Maps Platform to return U.S. address suggestions. When you submit an address, Voterist sends it to Google Civic Information and/or the U.S. Census Bureau geocoder to identify relevant districts and available election information.
If you choose “Use my current location,” your browser asks for permission. The coordinates are sent to Voterist and then to Google's geocoding service to estimate an address.
Voterist does not add voter lookup addresses or coordinates to its application database or include them in product analytics. Service and hosting providers may still process ordinary request metadata, such as an IP address, timestamp, browser, and device information, under their own policies.
Candidate accounts and profile information
When a candidate, campaign, or authorized representative signs in, Voterist collects the email address used for authentication and stores account, session, profile-claim, and verification information.
Voterist stores profile drafts, submitted sources, positions, endorsements, photographs, correction requests, approvals, publication history, and other information a user provides to manage a candidate profile. Information a user chooses to publish becomes public and may be accessed by voters, search engines, AI systems, automated agents, researchers, media organizations, and other third parties.
Public and third-party information
Voterist collects candidate, campaign, office, election, endorsement, public-statement, and related information from government records, campaign websites, public filings, news reports, and other lawful public sources. Public Record Content may remain available even if a candidate does not claim a profile or closes an account.
Campaign Pro, AI, and payments
For Campaign Pro, Voterist may store monitored public URLs, page snapshots, change summaries, AI prompts and sampled answers, citations, findings, alerts, and delivery status. Candidate profile and public-source information may be sent to OpenAI to support research, drafting, and monitoring. Voter lookup addresses are not sent to OpenAI.
Stripe processes payment and billing information. Voterist stores related customer and transaction identifiers, payment status, amount, and payment-method category. Voterist does not receive or store bank-account credentials or digital-wallet private keys.
Communications
Voterist uses account email addresses to send sign-in codes, service notices, monitoring alerts, receipts or payment-status messages, and limited Campaign Pro follow-ups. Resend processes recipient addresses, message content, and delivery metadata for those communications. Campaign Pro marketing follow-ups include an unsubscribe link; essential authentication and active-service messages may continue.
Cookies, local storage, and activity data
Voterist uses first-party cookies for temporary sign-in challenges, authenticated sessions, and language preferences. Language preference may also be stored in your browser's local storage. Voterist records limited, address-free events such as whether a ballot lookup succeeded, a profile or source was opened, or location permission was granted or denied.
Voterist uses one-way digests derived from network and account information to enforce request limits, prevent abuse, and protect the Service. Deployment logs may contain ordinary technical request metadata.
How Voterist uses information
Voterist uses information to provide and secure the Service; authenticate users; match an address to election information; create, verify, maintain, and publish candidate records; process correction requests and payments; operate monitoring and AI-assisted features; communicate with users; troubleshoot problems; measure address-free product activity; enforce terms and policies; and comply with law.
Service providers and disclosures
Voterist shares information with service providers only as reasonably needed for their work, including Google for address and election lookup, the U.S. Census Bureau for geocoding, Supabase for data storage, Vercel for hosting, OpenAI for AI-assisted features, Resend for email, and Stripe for payments.
Voterist may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law or legal process; protect rights, safety, security, or service integrity; investigate fraud or abuse; or complete a financing, merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets subject to appropriate protections.
Voterist does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Retention and security
Voterist retains information for as long as reasonably needed to provide the Service, maintain public records and publication history, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, comply with legal obligations, and support backups and business operations. Retention periods vary by the type of information and why it was collected.
Voterist uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards. No internet service or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Your choices and privacy rights
Address suggestions and current-location access are optional. You can type an address manually, decline location permission, or use official election-office resources instead.
You may ask Voterist to provide access to, correct, or delete personal information associated with your account. Voterist may need to verify your request and may retain information when permitted or required by law. Removing private account information does not necessarily require removal of lawful Public Record Content or information already made public.
Where applicable law provides additional rights—including rights to know, delete, correct, limit certain uses, opt out of sale or sharing, or receive equal treatment—Voterist will honor verified requests as required. Because Voterist does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, there is no sale or advertising-sharing opt-out needed for current practices.
Children
Voterist is not directed to children under 13, and Voterist does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Candidate and campaign accounts are limited to people who are at least 18 years old.
Changes and contact
Voterist may update this policy as the Service, providers, or legal requirements change. The effective date below identifies the current version. Questions and privacy requests may be sent to support@voterist.com.
